NATIONAL EMPLOYABILITY PROGRAMME: IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT WORKSHOP
Cognity Advisory facilitated a collaboration between the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to conduct the National Employability Benchmarking exercise in Nigerian universities from September 2022 to January 2023. Cognity Advisory were the project managers of the exercise.
After the successful implementation of the employability benchmarking exercise and submission of final report on the findings made by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Cognity Advisory consulted for TETFund to organize a two-day implementation support workshop to kick start the implementation of the recommendations made by IFC.
The 2 day workshop was facilitated by IFC, and local facilitators contributed to making of presentations and discussions.
TETFund beneficiary institutions, regulatory agencies including the Federal Ministry of Education, and private sector were well represented at the workshop.
The workshop focused on the proposed interventions like career services, graduate tracer study, and technological support for sustainability and wider reach among the Nigerian HEIs.
All the participants agreed that with proper will-power and support from the government, the recommendations made by IFC are achievable.
While speaking at the event, the CEO of Cognity Advisory, Mr Tope Toogun reiterated the importance of putting the appropriate processes and systems in place in the Nigerian HEIs to facilitate improved graduate employability outcomes.
TETFund executive secretary expressed the determination of the Fund to implement the recommendations made by the IFC starting with career services.
The workshop was held in Abuja on 4 and 5 October 2023.
